EPRI Surge Arrester Sensor

Surge Arrester Sensor: This task is developing an RF sensor to evaluate surge arresters. The sensor is installed on the energized side of the arrester, which precludes the need to insulate the arrester base. The sensor is utilized to identify high-risk arresters and provide an indication of remaining life. Presently, a laboratory prototype has been tested with further hardware and algorithm developments required before a field demonstration.
